A few fellow reviewers suggested I see Ron Ford’s black comedy HOLLYWOOD MORTUARY. I think the phrase, “the greatest b-movie ever,” was used in the description. While I don’t think any film could live up to that moniker, this one does come close. It delivers everything from laughs and gore to great filmmaking and storytelling...

 

...Ford seems to be a man of many talents, he writes, directs, and acts. Not every filmmaker has the talent to be able to work both in front of and behind the camera. Ford does. See for yourself. Do yourself a favor and pick up HOLLYWOOD MORTUARY.

Just when I thought the serial killer movie has been done to death along comes Ron Ford's new movie, a cool twist on the genre. Jenny Barrett (Trish Haight in a superior performance), a slightly eccentric woman running away from an abusive husband, hitchhikes to the home of her idol, true-crime novelist Lucas Swan (Randal Malone). At first Swan thinks she's just another crazy fan who wants his autograph-but is more friendly to her when he finds out she's a longtime email buddy. Since she has no place to stay he offers her a room in his Bed & Breakfast establishment. It's the off season, or 'Dead Season', so there isn't anybody else in the place. That is, until a visitor...
